Application Guidelines Green Mark for Interiors
Preparation
GMI certification applies to fitted-out, occupied and functioning interiors tenanted within a base building, and have:
- Minimum three months of steady-state operation
- A lease that clearly defines the area and tenant-responsible furniture, fixture & equipment
- Lighting energy consumption with improvement ≥ 10% over the total lighting power allowance prescribed by SS 530: 2024
Applications may be submitted for a stand-alone project, or a group of up to five projects under one application. Like a stand-alone project, each project in the group will be assessed independently, and be awarded individual GMI rating, sustainability badge(s), letter of award (LOA) and GMI certificate.
Fees
GMI certification fee is based on the GFA of the project, and is illustrated in the following table.
| Size Category by GFA (m²) | Fee |
|---|---|
| Up to 150 | $1,500 |
| 151 - 500 | $3,500 |
| 501 - 1,500 | $4,500 |
| 1,501 - 3,000 | $6,000 |
| 3,001 - 6,000 | $7,500 |
| 6,001 - 10,000 | $8,000 |
| 10,001 - 20,000 | $9,000 |
| 20,001 - 50,000 | $15,000 |
For applications with up to five projects, the project with the largest GFA will be designated as the principal project, and its certification fee will follow the standard fee structure.
The subsequent projects within the application will be granted a 50% discount of their respective fee, provided that all the remaining projects will be completed within twelve months from the date of the first awarded certificate. If the certification process for any project extends beyond the twelve-month period, that project will become treated as a stand-alone project, and the balance 50% fee shall be paid before the GMI certification will be awarded.
Projects that are not attempting GMI certification any further may be withdrawn from assessment. The certification fee will be refunded but an administrative fee will apply.
Application Submission
Certification applications may be submitted at the Sign In portal. New applicants will have to create a new account with their company name, company UEN number, and a valid email address. Subsequent sign-ins will require a verification code which will be sent to the registered e-mail address.
Each new application requires both administrative, and project(s) specific information for submission. SGBC will be able to assist if any changes are required after the application has been submitted.

An acknowledgement email with a case number will be issued after submission. SGBC will verify information provided, seek clarification from the owner’s representative if required, confirm the associated fees, and complete the acceptance process. The owner’s representative may then arrange for payment to be made.
Evaluation
Once payment is received, the respective project coordinator(s) may proceed to prepare for assessment and submit the required documentation, data and other information to meet the GMI criteria.
The evaluation process duration would be dependent on the readiness of the project, quality of the submittals, as well as coordination between the project and evaluation teams. The owner's representative and the project coordinator will be notified of the outcome when the evaluation is completed.
Letter of Award and Certificate
The letter of award and certificate specifying the achieved GMI rating and any sustainability badges will be issued to the owner's representative. The rating will be valid for five years, but will become invalid if further retrofits or renovations are conducted on the project.
